How do you convert WebP to PNG without uploading a file?

Choose or drop your WebP image into the converter. It automatically decodes the image and exports PNG in your browser. For a single image, inspect the before/after slider, optionally edit the output name, then download. To convert several images, select them together and download the results individually or as a ZIP.

Use local file selection to avoid a remote image request. The optional URL input fetches an image from its host, which must allow your browser to read it; local conversion does not upload that image to a conversion server.

Why Convert WebP to PNG?

Convert when your destination workflow requests PNG, such as a document, design asset, or image-editing task. PNG supports transparent output, so the converter does not need to flatten the background.

Support depends on the receiving software. Conversion changes the file format; it does not guarantee universal compatibility or improve detail that was already lost in the original image.

How Does Batch WebP to PNG Conversion Work?

Select up to 50 files at once. Files are queued and converted sequentially, with pending, processing, done, or error status shown per file. Results stay in browser memory until downloaded or cleared.

Download successful files separately or together as a ZIP. If one file fails, inspect its error and continue with the successful results. Large images can consume significant memory even when the compressed source file is small.

Can You Override Each File's Output Settings?

This WebP to PNG configuration has no quality slider or background-color override. Batch rows do not offer an editable filename field or per-file conversion settings. Their PNG names are derived from the source filenames.

For a single converted file, the download panel provides an output filename field. Review the displayed file size before downloading; PNG output can be larger than the source WebP.

How to Convert WebP to PNG on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

This converter runs in any current browser, so the steps are the same on every device: open the page, choose the WebP file, and download the PNG. On a phone, the file picker opens your photo library or Files app, and the PNG lands in your downloads.

Built-in apps can also do it for a single image. On Windows, open the WebP in Paint and use Save as, then PNG. On a Mac, open it in Preview, choose File, Export, and pick PNG as the format. On iPhone, the Shortcuts app has a Convert Image action that can output PNG. Android has no built-in converter, so a browser tool is the simplest route there. Use this page when you have several files, want a ZIP, or need the same steps on every device.

WebP vs PNG: When to Use Each Format?

Keep WebP when the original format already meets your destination requirements. Choose PNG when a recipient or workflow specifically needs it, or when you need a static image with transparency.

File size depends on image content and source encoding. There is no fixed size-saving percentage for every image, and converting a lossy WebP to PNG cannot recover discarded information. Compare the actual source and result sizes shown by the tool.

What Are the Technical Characteristics of the PNG Output?

The engine decodes the source with createImageBitmap, draws it on a canvas, and exports image/png. No PNG quality slider is applied. The conversion preserves the decoded dimensions and transparent background without transferring the source EXIF record.

Animated WebP becomes a static PNG of the first frame. The tool does not extract all frames. Processing time varies with image dimensions, browser implementation, and available device memory; there is no guaranteed conversion time.

How to Use WebP to PNG Converter

  1. Choose your WebP files

Click the file area or drag and drop WebP images. Select up to 50 files together for batch conversion. A local file does not need to be uploaded to a server.

  2. Review the output

Conversion starts automatically. In single-file mode, inspect the before/after preview and edit the output filename if needed. Batch output names are derived from the source files.

  3. Compare sizes

Read the source and output sizes. PNG may be larger than WebP because the formats encode the decoded image differently. A larger file does not restore detail lost in the source.

  4. Download your PNG files

Download a single PNG, individual successful batch results, or the successful results together as a ZIP archive.
