What should I verify before sharing a file?
A photo may contain location, capture time, or camera details, depending on its settings and editing history. Inspect the source, remove unwanted metadata, then inspect the exported copy. Check the visible image too: a street sign or a document in the background can reveal information even when metadata is absent.
For documents, removing metadata and redacting page content solve different problems. Review document properties separately from visible names, addresses, or account details. Inspect every exported page before sending it, and keep the original separate from the copy you intend to share.
How are files processed on this device?
The hash verifier reads chunks through incremental hashers in a worker for MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256. Compare its output with a checksum from a trusted source. A checksum match is an integrity check, not a malware scan or proof of the publisher's identity.
