Runs locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to a server.
Drop your PNG file (or up to 50 files at once) onto the converter. Adjust quality, background color, max dimension or a target file size, then download your JPEGs individually or as a ZIP. At 92% quality, the output is visually identical to the original while being 60-80% smaller - everything runs in your browser.

Why Convert PNG to JPG?
PNG files are excellent for lossless quality and transparency, but they are significantly larger than necessary for photographs and images where transparency is not needed. A typical 1920x1080 photograph saved as PNG weighs 5-8MB, while the same image as JPEG at 92% quality is only 800KB-1.5MB - a 5-8x size reduction with no perceptible quality difference to the human eye. This makes PNG-to-JPEG conversion one of the most impactful optimizations for web performance.
Google's Core Web Vitals directly penalize oversized images in LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) calculations. Serving a 5MB PNG hero image instead of a 1MB JPEG can push your LCP from "Good" (under 2.5 seconds) to "Needs Improvement" - affecting both search rankings and user experience. Converting PNG photographs to JPEG is often the single biggest performance win for image-heavy pages.
How Does Batch PNG to JPG Conversion Work?
Drop up to 50 PNG files onto the converter at once. Each file is decoded by your browser's
native PNG decoder and re-encoded as JPEG using the Canvas API's toBlob("image/jpeg", quality)
method. No file is uploaded - all processing happens within your device's memory. A 1920x1080 PNG
typically converts in under 300ms, with memory usage proportional to image resolution (approximately
4 bytes per pixel for the RGBA canvas buffer).
During JPEG encoding, the DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) algorithm processes the image in 8x8 pixel blocks, quantizing high-frequency detail that the human visual system is less sensitive to. At 92% quality, this produces files that are 60-80% smaller than the PNG source while achieving SSIM values above 0.98 for photographic content.
How Does Background Color for Transparency Work?
JPEG does not support alpha transparency. When your PNG has transparent areas, the converter fills them with a solid background color before encoding. The background color picker appears automatically when transparency is detected, offering preset swatches (white, black, gray, cream) plus a custom hex/RGB picker. In batch mode, each file card has its own background color control - useful when your PNG set contains logos against different intended backgrounds.
In single-file mode, the before/after slider shows the composited result with your chosen background applied, so you can verify the output before downloading. If the PNG has no transparent areas, the background color control is hidden.
How Do You Choose Between PNG and JPG?
Use JPEG for photographs, illustrations with smooth gradients, and any image where file size matters more than pixel- perfect quality. JPEG excels at compressing natural photographic content because its DCT algorithm efficiently represents continuous tone variations. The 92% quality setting preserves all visually significant detail while dramatically reducing file size.
Keep PNG for screenshots with sharp text, logos that require transparency, UI design assets, technical diagrams with thin lines, and any image that will be edited and re-saved multiple times. PNG's lossless deflate compression preserves every pixel exactly, preventing the generation loss that accumulates with repeated JPEG saves. For graphics with large areas of solid color, PNG can be smaller than JPEG because deflate handles uniform regions very efficiently.
Should I Use WebP Instead of JPG?
WebP offers 25-34% smaller files than JPEG at equivalent quality and supports alpha
transparency - making it the technically superior choice for web delivery. However, JPEG has
100% universal support versus WebP's 97%. If your audience includes users on older software,
email clients, or platforms that reject WebP, JPEG remains the safer choice. For websites
under your control, serve WebP with JPEG fallback using the <picture> element
or CDN-based content negotiation.
How Do I Reduce JPG Size for Upload Forms and Email?
Many upload forms and email services set a maximum file size or pixel size. Two controls cover this. Max dimension scales the longest side down to the pixel value you enter while keeping the aspect ratio, and it never enlarges an image that is already smaller. Target file size searches for the highest JPEG quality that fits your KB limit. Combine them when a large screenshot or photo cannot reach the limit by quality alone.
Is an Online PNG to JPG Converter Safe for Private Images?
Many online converters upload your files to a server and apply limits such as a maximum file size, a daily file count or a watermark on free use. This converter decodes and re-encodes images with your browser's own canvas, so the files never leave your device and there is no upload limit beyond your device's memory (batches are capped at 50 files). You can confirm it in your browser's network tab: no image data is sent while converting.

How to Use PNG to JPG Converter
-
Upload your PNG file or files
Click the upload area or drag and drop one or more PNG images. Drop up to 50 files at once for batch conversion. Clipboard paste (Ctrl+V) is also supported for single images.
-
Adjust quality and background color per file
Use the quality slider (10-100%) to control JPEG compression. If your PNG has transparent areas, choose a background color from the preset swatches or pick a custom color with the color picker. Each file in batch mode has its own controls - mix settings across your file set.
-
Optionally resize or set a target size
Enter a max dimension (longest side in pixels) to downscale large images, never upscaling smaller ones. Or enter a target size in KB and the tool picks the highest JPEG quality (30-100%) that fits. In batch mode, set a file name pattern such as {name}-web or photo-{n}.
-
Preview and compare
In single-file mode, use the before/after slider to compare the original PNG with the converted JPG side by side. The output file size updates in real time as you adjust quality. A size increase warning appears if the JPG output exceeds the PNG source size.
-
Download your JPG files
Click Download for a single file or Download All as ZIP for batch conversions. You can also edit the output filename directly on each file card. EXIF metadata is not carried from PNG to JPEG by the Canvas API - output files contain no embedded location or camera data.
