How can I create a QR code online for free?
Use the URL tab for a website address or Text for a plain message. Enter your content, check the generated preview, and select Download SVG or Download PNG. This online QR code generator runs locally and encodes your content directly, without a hosted redirect. You can adjust colors and module shapes before downloading. Scan the exported image before sharing it; the generator does not verify the destination or certify scan reliability.
How Does QR Code Generation Work?
The engine passes your payload to a QR encoder, which builds a module matrix with the chosen error correction level. The generator does not explicitly choose numeric, alphanumeric, or kanji encoding modes. Capacity depends on the encoded payload and correction setting, so a fixed numeric-character limit would not describe this implementation accurately.
The matrix is rendered into SVG. PNG downloads draw that SVG onto a canvas at your selected size. The preview reports the QR version and module dimensions.
What Can You Encode in a QR Code?
Supported content includes website links, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, telephone numbers, email messages, SMS messages, contact cards, events, payment details, geographic coordinates, messaging links, and meeting links. Each tab builds a payload from its own fields.
Phone payloads use tel:, email uses mailto:, and SMS uses smsto:. Wi-Fi payloads include the network name, encryption type, password, and hidden-network flag. How a scanner opens that content depends on the receiving application.
How to Customize Your QR Code Design?
Choose Square, Rounded, Dots, Classy, or Diamond modules. Foreground, background, and finder colors are separately configurable. Gradients support vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions.
The contrast warning compares the foreground and background colors; it does not test the gradient endpoint or guarantee scanning. Adding a logo selects H correction automatically. The Appearance panel opens on wide screens and can collapse after a tab change when the input area overflows.
How Does a vCard QR Code Work With Multiple Contact Fields?
The contact payload uses vCard 3.0. It includes names and populated optional fields such as phone numbers, emails, websites, organization, address, and notes. Empty optional entries are omitted; the record still contains its structural name fields.
Payload size depends on the actual field values. Longer contact records make denser codes. Test the exported contact code with the intended receiving application because import support varies.
How to Create a Payment QR Code?
The Payment tab builds a line-based payload beginning with BCD and containing the beneficiary name, IBAN, optional BIC, amount, reference, and note. It formats the selected currency and amount into the payload.
The generator creates an image, not a transfer. It does not validate bank acceptance or guarantee compatibility with every banking application. Review the encoded details and confirm compatibility with the intended payment workflow.
Which QR Code Format Should You Use for Printing?
SVG scales without raster pixelation and is useful when the printed dimensions may change. PNG offers fixed sizes of 256, 512, 1024, or 2048 pixels. A logo overlay appears in PNG output and clipboard copies, not in SVG.
There is no universal print size that guarantees scanning. Module density, contrast, viewing distance, and printing quality all matter. Test at the final physical size using the intended scanning device.
What Are the Messaging and Meeting QR Code Formats?
The messaging tabs construct links from a phone number or username, with optional message text where supported. The meeting tab builds a join link from a meeting identifier and optional password. The username-based messaging formatter does not offer a separate group-invite mode.
The Event tab creates a VEVENT block with start time, optional end time, location, description, and recurrence fields. Scanning does not guarantee an automatic calendar import; that behavior belongs to the receiving application.
Why Use a Privacy-First QR Code Generator?
Your input is processed in local browser memory during generation. Uploaded logo files are read through local object URLs and drawn onto the PNG canvas. No generation server is needed.
The downloaded code contains your payload directly. The generator adds no scan tracking layer, but a website you encode may still perform its own tracking when visited. Avoid distributing codes containing credentials or private contact data to unintended recipients.
How Do QR Code Error Correction Levels Work?
The Appearance panel offers L, M, Q, and H correction settings, with M selected initially. Correction adds redundancy to the encoded data and can increase the resulting grid size. Uploading a logo switches the setting to H.
Correction cannot ensure that arbitrary damage, low contrast, or an overlay will remain readable. Keep the final image clear and test the actual exported file, including any logo, rather than relying only on the on-screen pattern.
How to Use QR Code Generator
-
Choose your content type
Select a content tab such as URL, Text, Wi-Fi, Phone, Email, SMS, vCard, Event, Payment, or Location. An idle preview shows the layout before you enter content.
-
Enter your content
Fill in the fields for your selected type. Contact cards support multiple phone numbers, email addresses, websites, and optional notes. Event fields include recurrence frequency, interval, and count.
-
Customize appearance
Choose Square, Rounded, Dots, Classy, or Diamond modules. Set foreground, background, and finder colors or a two-color gradient. Adding a logo sets error correction to H. On wide screens, the Appearance panel may collapse when the input fields overflow.
-
Download or share
Export SVG or PNG at 256, 512, 1024, or 2048 pixels. A logo is included in PNG and clipboard images, not SVG. Clipboard and sharing actions depend on browser support.
