Rotate PDF
Save page rotations, fix alternating scanned pages, and remove unwanted pages without uploading your PDF.

PDF files of any size. Processing happens in your browser.
Runs locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to a server.
Choose a PDF, use CW or CCW to rotate its pages, then click Apply and Download to save a PDF with the new orientation. Each click turns pages by 90 degrees. Select individual pages, enter page ranges, or use Odd and Even for alternating pages. Portrait and Landscape filter the thumbnail list by original orientation. You can also mark unwanted pages for removal before applying. Processing stays on your device in browser memory.

How do you rotate a PDF and save the corrected pages?
Choose your PDF, turn sideways pages with CW or CCW, click Apply, and Download the result. The saved PDF contains the new page rotations. You can correct one page, a selected group, or all visible pages, and remove unwanted sheets during the same editing session.
For a worked example, take a six-page duplex scan whose back sides are upside down. Leave the orientation filter on All if it is shown, click Even, and click the top CW button twice. Pages 2, 4, and 6 each receive a 180-degree turn; pages 1, 3, and 5 keep their original rotations. If those three pages started at 0 degrees, their saved angles become 180 degrees. The button reads Apply: rotate 3 pages. Download the output and reopen it to inspect the corrected back sides.
What is the difference between CW, CCW, and the saved angle?
CW adds 90 degrees clockwise to the current page rotation. CCW adds 270 degrees, equivalent to turning 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Angles wrap at 360 degrees, so four turns in either direction return a page to its starting rotation. Two turns in either direction produce a half turn.
| Control | Calculation | New saved angle |
|---|---|---|
| CW | (90 + 90) modulo 360 | 180 degrees |
| CCW | (90 + 270) modulo 360 | 0 degrees |
The thumbnail turns relative to its original preview, while its changed-angle badge shows the new absolute rotation. That badge is not an extra turn to add later. Use the thumbnail's Reset control to restore that page's original angle, which may already be 90, 180, or 270 degrees rather than zero.
How do page ranges and individual selections work?
Click a thumbnail to select or deselect it. Shift+click adds the inclusive range between the last clicked page and the current one. The top CW and CCW buttons act on the selected set whenever that set is nonempty. Controls beneath a thumbnail act on that individual page, regardless of the batch selection.
In Pages:, enter comma-separated numbers and ranges, then click Select or press Enter. Numbering starts at 1. Reversed range endpoints are accepted, repeated pages are deduplicated, and numbers beyond the document's end are ignored when valid pages remain. Zero, malformed text, and a range containing no existing page produce an error without replacing the selection.
Odd and Even replace the current selection with alternating original page numbers. They are not an intersection with an earlier typed range. To correct a limited section, select that section directly rather than entering a range and expecting Even to keep only its back sides.
What do the Portrait and Landscape filters actually select?
These buttons filter the thumbnail list; clicking a filter does not itself select pages. The filter controls appear when the document contains both portrait and landscape pages. Orientation is calculated from page width, height, and the original rotation: original angles of 90 or 270 degrees swap the effective dimensions. Square pages pass both filters.
Pending rotations do not change a page's filter category. A landscape page remains in the Landscape list while you preview a quarter turn. Typed ranges and Odd or Even selections are restricted to visible pages when a filter is active, but changing the filter does not clear an existing selection. Check the selection count before rotating: an existing selection can include hidden pages.
When nothing is selected, the top rotation buttons act on all visible pages. This makes a filtered batch useful for mixed documents, but it cannot detect which text is upright. Upside-down portrait sheets are still portrait; use page previews or alternating-page selection to identify them.
Can you rotate and remove pages in one pass?
Use Remove under a thumbnail or Remove selected for a batch. Marked pages are dimmed, excluded from saved rotation changes, and dropped from the output when you apply. Use Keep on an individual marked page or Restore removed to clear all removal marks. At least one page must remain.
The Apply label lists pending rotations and removals. It is disabled when there are no changes or every page is marked for removal. Retained pages keep their original sequence; this screen has no page reordering control. For a separate extraction task, use Split PDF. For removal-focused work, use Delete PDF Pages.
Does saved rotation change the PDF content or quality?
The rotation operation loads the PDF with pdf-lib, sets each changed page's rotation, and saves it. It does not rasterize pages into screenshots, run OCR, or re-encode embedded images as part of rotation. Text and vector content are not replaced with thumbnail images. This differs from exporting a scan as pictures and assembling those pictures into a PDF.
Saving serializes the document again, so the output need not have the original byte layout or file size. Removing pages additionally creates a new document from the retained pages. Neither operation promises a smaller file. The controls support quarter turns only; they cannot deskew a scan tilted by a few degrees or fix sideways text within just one part of a page.
What happens after Apply, and what are the limits?
The result screen reports changed pages and output size, plus removed pages and the remaining count when applicable. The default filename adds -rotated before .pdf, and you can edit it. Back to editing preserves your pending angles and removal marks so you can revise the result without loading the source again. Rotate another PDF clears the session.
PDF bytes are read into browser memory and processed locally. The loader has no explicit file-size or page-count cap, but available device memory still limits practical document size. Previews load as needed rather than all being ready immediately. Password-protected files are rejected with a request to remove protection first; this tool has no password field. How to Use Rotate PDF
-
Choose a PDF file or drag & drop
Open one PDF using the file chooser or drop area. Review the page thumbnails before choosing which pages need correction.
-
Select
Enter page numbers or ranges in Pages: and click Select, or use Odd or Even. Clicking a thumbnail toggles its selection; Shift+click adds a range.
-
CW
Use CW for a 90-degree clockwise turn or CCW for a counter-clockwise turn. The top buttons rotate selected pages, or all visible pages if none are selected. Thumbnail controls rotate just that page.
-
Apply
Optionally use Remove or Remove selected, then review the Apply button's counts. Its label lists the pending rotations and removals. Click it to build the output PDF; at least one page must remain.
-
Download
Save the output with Download. The default name adds -rotated before .pdf. Use Back to editing to revise your rotations and removal marks, or Rotate another PDF to start over.
